Bund Freier evangelischer Gemeinden / Federation of Free Evangelical Churches

A Federation of Churches
Free Evangelical Churches live for Jesus Christ.
A personal faith in Him is the single condition of
membership. Every church is run independently and
uses the gifts and talents of its members to praise
and serve God. Pastors are appointed in consultation
with the federation of FeGs. Each church finances itself
through donations and makes the vast majority
of important church related decisions independently.
However, the churches feel united in this freedom.
With over 440 affiliated churches the federation sees
itself as a strong and lively community. The federation
is not simply out to produce results; rather it is
a universal community that lives with and in Jesus
Christ and that faces common tasks and challenges.
In the Bible Jesus says: "You did not choose me; I chose
you to go and bear much fruit, the kind of fruit that
endures" (John 15, 16a).

Founded in The Word of God
The Bible is the cornerstone of each FeG. It concerns
itself not with how human beings imagine God
to be; rather it is Gods binding and infallible message
to his people. That is why the Bible sets the standard
by which church members live their lives, both
within the private sphere and within the community.
Consequently, much emphasis is placed on studying
the Bible and acting upon God´ Word. The Free
Evangelical Churches are convinced that the person
who listens to God word, obeys it and relies on its
promises will experience its power, and discover how
it provides a firm foundation for his or her faith. Jesus
once said: "Whoever is willing to do what God wants
will know whether what I teach comes from God or whether
it comes from my own authority" (John 7, 17).

Moved by the love of Jesus
God loves his world! Even if His people have rejected
Him, His affection for them is unstoppable.
The greatest manifestation of this love is in the death
of his son, Jesus Christ. Around 2,000 years ago Jesus
died in our place for the sins of all people. FeGs
live out this truth and hope that all in their ranks are
united not in what we have done for God, but in what
God has done for us. Young or old, man or woman,
regardless of status, origin or worldly success - God
rejoices in giving new life to all who believe in Him.
It is written in the Bible: "For God so loved the world
that he gave His only son, that everyone who believes in
Him may not die, but have eternal life" (John 3, 16).

Reaching out to his people
The news of God love must be made known. God
Himself commands us to do so. That is why FeGs
encourage each of their members to be a credible
witness in Christ - not only in words, but also in the
way they live their lives. The life of the church should
also reflect this pattern. For this reason, rather than
cutting themselves off from society, church members
share their lives with those who are still skeptical
when it comes to entrusting themselves to Jesus
care. That is why they found new churches. They are
constantly looking for new ways to convey the gospel
in an up-to-date and universally comprehensible
fashion. They long to bring people into contact with
Jesus Christ and make them into His disciples. This
is also the motivation behind the federation´ missionary
and social engagement. In the Bible Jesus says:
"As the Father sent me, so I send you" (John 20, 21b).
